The GNPDR team have continued their work in the Rwandan prisons despite the restrictions of COVID-19.
Disrtibution of personal hygiene gifts was very welcome, enabling each prisoner to have their own washing kit rather than having to share and risk cross-contamination. The gifts distributed include a washing bucket, soap and masks.
Information on health and hygiene was also shared through some group information meetings. These meetings not only gave teaching on Covid-related information, but also went wider to talk about STD’s, healthy relationships, and making good choices. For many of the young prisoners present, this is the first time they have ever received such teaching which is so very valuable both now and when they leave prison to start a new life.
